Dan Bruneau is managing director of Bruneau & Associates, a consulting firm in communications and professional development. He has more than 40 years of experience in communications and management in the federal government and the private sector.
Bruneau served nearly 25 years at the Department of Veterans Affairs in positions including director of communications for the Office of Research and Development and acting chief communications officer for the Veterans Health Administration. He previously spent 14 years as a reporter and editor for newspapers in Wisconsin and North Carolina and worked in public affairs at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Additionally, he conducted numerous workplace mediations for federal agencies.
Bruneau holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin—Eau Claire and a law degree from the University of Wisconsin—Madison. He also holds certificates in mediation from the University of California—Santa Barbara, project management from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and leadership from the Federal Executive Institute in Charlottesville, Va.
In addition to his professional activities, he serves on the board of directors for Brunswick Senior Resources, Inc. and the Community Advisory Board for WHQR, the public radio station in Wilmington, NC.
