Austin Energy seeks an individual to primarily serve a media and crisis communications function, working closely with Public Information & Marketing Program Manager and Communications Director to provide media strategy.
This individual will sometimes act as a spokesperson for the organization and will provide training and coaching for other subject matter experts. This person would work with multiple internal and external stakeholders, building equitable, innovative and inclusive processes to inform and engage the media the and the general public.
The successful candidate will be a professional with excellent diplomacy skills, and an empathetic and inclusive work philosophy. They will demonstrate the ability to focus and work well under pressure, including emergency scenarios and crisis management. They are confident with their communication skills, are highly self-motivated and curious, and develop relationships built on trust. This position will work closely with the Austin Energy Public Information team.

Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years experience in a related field.
Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.
