Position Description
Under the direction of the Senior Media Services Manager, the Multimedia Specialist plans, implements, and refines multimedia communication and completes various multimedia projects based on multiple organizational priorities and needs that effectively deliver messages to internal and external audiences primarily producing and editing photos and video products.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for visual content for a wide variety of high-quality creative solutions including HCSO newsletters, internal communications, press releases, social media postings, websites, and other media
- Develops, publishes, and edits timely content according to editorial calendars and current events
- Shoots and edits video and still photographs as assigned
- Develops media content by working with staff on identifying the agency’s communication and marketing needs and priorities; develops concepts and scripts.
- Prepares equipment for shoots/sessions.
- Elevates the organizational reputation and raises awareness of services
- Purchases and maintains equipment by evaluating equipment needs; researches new products and software
- Handles confidential information with discretion and confidentially
- Complies with all civil service, departmental, and bureau rules, regulations, and standard operation procedures
- Uses non-linear editing and/or graphics program to edit projects and publishes completed projects to appropriate distribution channels, with an emphasis on reaching social media and digital/mobile audiences; utilizes and/or manages the HCSO YouTube channel
- Provides professional creative and graphic design services to support HCSO communications efforts, including infographics, motion graphics, and social media graphics. Manages and maintains graphic file library including, photographs, logos, and artwork. Assists the Media team with brainstorming, advertising, and creative development
- Performs other assignments and duties as required and/ or necessary

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or related fields; plus
- Five (5) years of journalism/communications/content experience, including photojournalism and news writing; or,
- Additional years of experience in visual communications may substitute for the required degree on a year-for-year basis
- Must possess a valid Class C Driver's License and auto liability insurance
Skilled in:
- Must be highly proficient in the English language, both verbally and in writing; strong proofreading and editing skills with an eye for detail
- Strong project and time management/organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Must be energetic, creative, and deadline-oriented
Ability to:
- Prioritize and manage workload in a high-volume environment
Preferences
- Bilingual – Spanish is preferred, not required
