The Middlesex Sheriff's Office (MSO) is seeking a qualified professional for the position of Digital Media Coordinator (DMC) to work in the MSO Administrative Office located in Medford, MA. As a member of the Sheriff’s Executive team, the DMC reports to the Director of Media Relations & Public Information. The successful candidate will support the MSO’s overall mission through the development, posting and curation of audio, visual and written content to the agency’s digital communications platforms. The individual will also assist with the development of internal and external presentations and serve as an office spokesperson. This is an exempt, full time, at-will employment position that must be able to work a flexible schedule.

As part of the position’s primary focus of developing, posting and curating digital content, the candidate will be required to:

• Collaborate with the Director of Media Relations & Public Information to develop and implement a digital communications plan.

• Develop, edit and maintain visual assets including video, photographs, podcasts, graphics, images and adaptations of printed designs for digital use. Manage use of original artwork or adaptation of printed designs to produce digital interactive media.

• Serve as the primary agency photographer and videographer, maintaining both still photography and video archives.

• Design graphics for use in fliers and digital content to promote the MSO programs and events.

• Assist in drafting talking points and press releases.

• In coordination with the Director of Media Relations & Public Information, provide consultation and guidance to units and divisions in planning and creating new digital, web and social media content and maintaining existing content and communications.

• Work outside typical business hours, as needed, to assist journalists and staff in meeting deadlines and/or supporting special events.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Media Relations & Public Information or Chief of Staff.

The individual selected for the position of Digital Media Coordinator will be part of a team environment and must have the ability to work some night and weekend hours. The applicant will be required to work in a correctional facility. The individual selected shall also be cognizant of the confidential and sensitive nature of working in a law enforcement agency and must comply with all institutional rules regarding safety and security.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism or related field;

• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a media relations/ journalism/marketing position;

• Strong working knowledge of Adobe products (Photoshop/InDesign/Illustrator), Final Cut Pro or similar programs preferred;

• Strong written, verbal, photographic and video skills required;

• Experience with digital communications and social media is required;

• Ability to work under pressure and complete multiple projects in a timely and accurate manner while maintaining comprehensive and cohesive records;

• Must be able to work in a team environment and may be required to work some nights and weekend hours. Will be required to work within a correctional facility.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. The applicant must have an active valid driver’s license, the right to legally operate a motor vehicle in Massachusetts and pass a criminal background check.

Salary: $77,289 plus additional benefits.
