This regular, full-time position is part of the City’s Communications Department and is responsible for the development of strategic communications across multiple channels. This position works closely with key stakeholders and City Departments to implement communication strategies to inform and educate the community about City initiatives and maintain a positive City brand through digital media.

  • Work collaboratively with the City’s Communications Department to achieve strategic communication goals. Develop and implement marketing and communications strategies that support these goals.
  • Administer the development and content management for the City’s external and internal websites.
  • Manage digital-related projects including website enhancements, email campaigns and virtual public meetings.
  • Proactively develop programs to engage the City’s community, and ensure a consistent and appropriate voice and tone across all communications.
  • Serve as website administrator, train and support department content editors and work with offsite website contractor to solve problems, provide solutions and suggest new ideas.
  • Monitor, assess and report on online content performance and ensure the website functions with minimal downtime.
  • Create engaging content to increase awareness through the City’s website, internal sites, press releases, newsletters, etc. consistent with the organizations’ brand.
  • Proactively develop programs to engage the City’s community, and ensure a consistent and appropriate voice and tone across all communications.
  • Develop standards, processes and best practices for digital content creation, distribution and management.
  • Perform digital asset management.
  • Design, layout, and format all content to print specifications, and customer requirements including WCAG/ADA/Accessibility requirements.
  • Research, understand and stay apprised of WCAG/ADA/Accessibility best practices, and solutions to provide high-quality ADA compliant visual materials.
  • Collaborate with consultants, gather requirements and recommendations, create a prioritization schedule and provide technical guidance to City Staff so that accessibility barriers are removed from current and new content.
  • Ensure all web content is compliant with WCAG/ADA/Accessibility requirements.
  • Assists with program coordination and public events including the logistics and materials for events; may be called upon to work with volunteers and sponsors.
  • Help maintain the identity and reputation of the City.
  • Present information in a clear and concise manner through a variety of verbal and written mediums;
  • Develop monthly status reports based upon department metrics and communicate to the department and leadership staff.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other departments, agencies, contractors, and the public to develop strategic and tactical plans to facilitate and improve the delivery of City services.
